This service includes initial assessment, the development of a mealtime management plan (MMP), training/coaching of all support persons as well as referral to any other medical or allied health professionals, when required.

Community Connect groups aim to bring together carers in the community, whether you are a parent, a support worker, a teacher or family friend, caring for a person with a disability.

Yes, at Sensibly Speaking I am able to provide services to clients who are Plan-Managed and Self-Managed. I am able to connect with NDIA-managed clients through a sub-contracting arrangement. I am able to provide services to clients with Improved Relationships funding (sub-contracted) as well as Improved Daily Living funding (directly with Sensibly Speaking). Yes, I am a registered Medicare provider. Dependent on your private health cover, you might be able to claim a portion of the individual session cost for mealtime management and communication support, under the Speech Therapy extras cover.

My name is Maryke Hansen. I am a wife to my darling husband and a proud Mum of two teen girls. I am also a woman on the Autism Spectrum which makes me passionate about neurodiverse affirming care and the importance of holding space for people's lived experience.
I am a Speech Therapist/Positive Behaviour Support Specialist by background and have been working in the disability sector for 18years. I have a special interest in Autism (PDA-profile), Mealtime Management and Alternative and Augmentative Communication.
I have experience across all ages and have been working alongside clients and families, in their homes and communities to support positive interaction, quality of life and purposeful engagement in activities of their choosing and interest, for many years.
I am passionate about creating positive environments as well as learning/exploring spaces for children, adults and their support systems, tailored to their unique needs and capabilities. I am also a passionate family capacity builder who believes in empowering parents and other support persons to be coaches/teachers/models in their loved one's natural environments.
I believe that parents are the experts where their children are concerned (even if they don’t feel it every day), but sometimes just need a little support to look at their child’s needs through a different lens to help them thrive and grow.
